Restricted Code Press Kit

Best Gig of 1981Restricted Code is a band from Glasgow. Originally recording, touring and broadcasting in the post-punk era, the band had a record deal with one of the hippest indie labels, pop:aural, recorded John Peel and other BBC Radio One sessions and toured extensively in the UK and Europe, including opening for acts like The Human League.

Recently featured on Cherry Records ‘Big Gold Dream’ compilation of the best of Scottish independent music, the ‘Rip it Up’ exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland, and their songs continuing to be played on radio around the world, the original members of Restricted Code got back together again in 2018. They continue to play all-original music, including the best of their 1980s recordings. But this is not a revival band cashing-in on past success: new material is being written by songwriters Tom Cannavan and Frank Quadrelli, and forms the bulk of their shows and future recording plans.

The band is gigging around Scotland currently and will be recording an EP in autumn 2019. They are actively engaged with their fans and other Scottish bands via this website, and their YouTube, Twitter and Facebook pages, and of course through their network of friends and associates in the Scottish music and arts scene.

NMEA highly competent and experience band, Restricted Code has extensive studio and live experience, playing venues from small gigs to some of the biggest stages in the world, including the Hammersmith Odeon. The band is guaranteed to deliver, on songs, sounds, and attracting a discerning audience.

We are currently looking to play live, including on shared bills or as opening act for established bands in a similar musical genre. If you are another band, promoter or venue and would like to work with us, please use our contact form to get in touch.
